THE ARTIST
José Antonio Molina Sánchez is a painter born in 1918 in Murcia and died the 16-12-2009. He had a hard childhood. He was educated in a refined environment, maybe that is why his early interest in art came from. He trained at the School of Arts and Crafts of Murcia whose director was the sculptor José Planes. During the 1930 he published his first formal portraits and began to collaborate in magazines and newspapers as an illustrator. He was an artist who looked for his own forms, far from a clear figuration, he played with the most beautiful abstractions. His angels are nothing more than a concern for the female figure, who did not want to paint naked in an anecdote. He has made exhibitions in Murcia, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Zaragoza, Santander…
ARTWORK
One of the works of this painter is Rostro de Mujer, which is located in the Museum of Fine Arts in Murcia.
It is a cultural painting that is made with watercolor paint. It is painted with oil.
The face is oval, the lips full and the eyes small. The collar is long and comes to a shirt with several green tones. His hair is black, his eyes are brown, and his lips are pink. In this work the painter uses intense colors, black, brown, green …
The work is painted on paper. The work reflects a woman who is serious and sure of herself.
In my opinion, I think it expresses the seriousness and pride a person feels towards others and towards herself. On the other hand, I think it expresses the sadness that the painter feels when creating this work.
I think it’s a painting that conveys a lot of feelings.
